Bridge Building Contest

Notre Dame has a bridge building contest every year for their Physic's class. The rules of this event is to build a bridge that weighs 100.0 grams or less and seeing how much weight is can handle before it breaks apart. This event is held by Balsa Bridge. You can access their website at:
Here are some pictures of last year's bridge building contest.

Here is a picture of a bridge breaking under too much weight

The current record holder is Matthew Sullivan.

Vancouver is a city with many interesting bridges. My favourite bridge is the Burrard Street Bridge.

Computer Disassembly Project

For out Computer Disassembly Project, we each get into groups of 2 and each group received a Compaq DeskPro Computer to take apart. We also got a kit filled with tools to use to disassemble the computer. First, we took a picture of the computer, untouched with our group name (Wonarro). Then we slide off the cover; then we took another picture of the inside. We then took apart different things inside the computer. The components we found were: Network Card, Sound Card, Riser Board, Hard Drive, Floppy Disk, RAM, Motherboard, Front Panel, CPU, Cooling Fans, CPU, Power Supply, Backup Battery & Cooling Fins. Once we took apart everything and identifying the various components, we have to put everything back in their proper places. After securing the last screw in its place, we have to test out it out to see if it still works and if we had put everything back properly. My partner and I did not test ours because we did not have time.

"One Laptop Per Child"

"One Laptop Per Child (OLPC)" is an organization that is non-profitable with the goal of developing low-cost laptops for children who can't afford to have the education. This is an opportunity for them that they can't pass. This idea was created by Nicholas Negroponte. The organization asks for your help to make this a reality for these children. OLPC greatly thank you for your donations in making this real for the unfortunate children around the world.

Here is a picture of the laptop:
